Dr. Victoria’s approach to psychotherapy integrates neuroscience-based psychotherapy with Parent Management Training (PMT), Behavior Therapy, Neurofeedback, Expressive Art, and/or Play Therapy. A comprehensive grasp of each client’s situation is obtained with this method, allowing Dr. Victoria to effectively tailor treatment efforts to the respective needs of each distinct individual, while providing them with a sense of compassionate understanding to facilitate growth and overall healing.
The therapeutic process involves both the child and parent, incorporating concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Projective Drawings, and Parent Training. The goal of therapy is for children to learn coping actions to improve emotional and behavioral functioning, for parents and/or caregivers to assist in managing their child’s behavioral and emotional challenges, to improve the quality of parent-child interaction and promote change, and to empower the child’s mind to better the overall quality of life for the entire family system. Strategies include increasing parents’ positive communication skills, developing problem-solving skills and empathy, understanding temperament and normal developmental landmarks, encouraging developmentally appropriate expectations, limit-setting, developing a predictable structured environment, motivating behavior modification through rewards, and praise to encourage compliance and task completion.
