therapeutic approach

Dr. Victoria’s approach to psychotherapy incorporates a neuroscience-based psychotherapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). A comprehensive grasp of each client’s situation is obtained with this method, allowing Dr. Victoria to effectively tailor treatment efforts to the respective needs of each distinct individual, while providing them with a sense of compassionate understanding to facilitate growth and overall healing.

Neuroscience-based psychotherapy, also known as neuropsychotherapy, combines psychotherapy and neurobiology. Neuroscience concerns comprehending brain functions, while psychotherapy addresses complex behavior and history. Neuropsychotherapy is built upon the theory that life experiences are meaningful in relation to the needs of each individual’s brain structures, focusing on personal experiences and how they are interpreted by the brain in an effort to process and reframe them.

The therapeutic process focuses on the relationship between the brain, body, mind, environment, well-being, and social interaction. It involves providing clients with a general knowledge of neuroscience, touching on concepts such as neurons, neurotransmitters, neuroplasticity, memory, and brain activity. Promoting mind-body integration, this approach encourages clients to be fully present in their body while heightening their awareness. A major goal of neuropsychotherapy is to strengthen client resilience, providing them with the coping actions necessary to better manage their emotions. Skills such as interpersonal competence, emotional competence, adaptive cognitive restructuring, secure attachment, basic trust in others and themselves, and empowering the mind to create a more meaningful quality of life are emphasized.

Overall, the mind, environment, body, brain, and social interactions each have an impact on our thought processes and behaviors. Dr. Victoria’s holistic and multidisciplinary approach to psychotherapy integrates the brain, mind, and body to encourage well-being, health, and positive growth.
